Our DBG family always sticks together. Especially when times get tough. Click below to watch.

All Michigan schools and our after-school program are currently closed due to COVID-19 (Coronavirus), but we want you to know our team is working harder than ever to provide the tools and resources our students need during this challenging time.
Here’s what we’re doing.
  • Assembling care packages, including academic packets and meals, to be delivered to our 150+ students in the coming days.
  • Arranging virtual tutoring and mentoring and online workouts .
  • Paying all staff. We are all still working and available.
  • Doing an even deeper cleaning and sanitizing of our building.
  • Preparing lesson plans that will help our students fill in the gap for the missed time in school.

“We’re really proud of all of our staff and family members for how we’re coming together to support each other,” said DBG Executive Director Jessica Hauser. “For so many of our families who already were dealing with food insecurity and already on the verge of barely making ends meet, this time is terrifying because for many of them because they’re the ones that are losing their jobs first, they’re the ones that don’t have large sums of money to just be able to go out and buy a bunch of extra resources. Any and all help would be so greatly appreciated. Maybe we can alleviate some of the fear and concern.”

Help Us Provide Care Packages, Meals and More

Many of our 150+ students (ages 8-18) rely on free and reduced price school lunches and the nutritious meals served daily at DBG. That need continues even though schools are closed. We are assembling and delivering care packages that include meals, academic packets and other essentials. Please consider donating so we have the food we need for our students and families as long as school closures continue.

Virtual Tutoring and Mentoring + Online Workouts

We will not let this virus stop our students’ academic progress. Our staff is scheduling one-on-one virtual tutoring and mentoring sessions to help our 3rd-12th graders stay on top of their schoolwork as long as needed. We will be providing online or virtual workouts as well. We’re in need of jump ropes, 3-pound weights, ab wheels and computer.

Our Plan Going Forward

We will continue to support the needs of our students and families and provide whatever it takes for as long as it takes. We train kids for life.  And this is life. It’s what we do. We will keep you updated. #standwithDBG #wetrainkidsforlife
