On Saturday, June 7th, the DBG community gathered to celebrate the remarkable Class of 2025. Families, friends, alumni, and staff came together to honor 14 incredible seniors whose journeys have been marked by perseverance, growth, and a deep sense of purpose.
The ceremony began with opening remarks and heartfelt words from our Youth Leadership Academy speakers: D’Aire (rising 5th grader), Kayla (rising 9th grader), and Tyrone (rising senior). Their speeches reminded everyone that leadership isn’t just about age—it’s about community, courage, and the willingness to lift others up.
Coach Dennis Williams-Mitchell then invited the seniors to stand and line up, facing their families. With the entire room watching, Asiya, our gym mother and Associate Director of Student Relationships, stepped forward to give each senior a special pin, an unforgettable moment that symbolized both recognition and the promise of building a trusted network for the students following in their footsteps.
To close the formal ceremony, Harmonie Stewart delivered heartfelt closing remarks that captured the spirit of the day. She reminded her classmates, and all of us, that while the journey ahead may be challenging, it’s filled with possibilities, and DBG has prepared them for what’s next.
After the ceremony, families and seniors gathered to share food, laughter, and dancing. The joy in the air was palpable—a celebration not just of accomplishments, but of community, support, and the unbreakable bonds that make DBG feel like home.
