On Thursday, June 12th, the DBG community came together for our annual Spelling Bee, and this one may have been our best yet. Held in the dinner area, the event kicked off at 5:30PM with students buzzing with energy, confidence, and a little healthy competition.

In the weeks leading up to the big night, students had been preparing both at home and at DBG, practicing their words and sharpening their focus. With three literacy tiers, each group competed for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, and every single participant brought their A-game to the mic.

But what made the evening so powerful wasn’t just the spelling. It was the sense of community that filled the room. Families, staff, and peers showed up in full force, celebrating every win and offering real-time encouragement when a student stumbled. You could feel the love in every round, every “You got this!” and every high-five.

This year’s spelling bee reminded us that academic growth doesn’t happen in isolation, it happens in connection. When our kids feel seen, supported, and celebrated, they rise to the occasion. And rise they did.

We’re already looking forward to the next Spelling Bee in late fall 2025, where we’ll witness more brilliance, more bravery, and more reasons to cheer. Congratulations again to our 9 special winners!
